Luton boss believes injured Brown can still make the Euros

-

Luton Town boss Rob Edwards has revealed Scotland star Jacob Brown could yet make the Euros – despite being ruled out for the season.

Brown started Scotland’s last competitive match when they drew 3-3 with Norway last year in the final game of the Euro 2024 qualifiers, but has yet to open his international account in eight appearances for Steve Clarke’s side

He has not featured for his club since a 4-4 draw with Newcastle United in February after suffering a knee injury in training.

Brown will not play again in Luton’s survival bid this season, but Edwards believes the 26-year-old still has a chance of being on the Scotland flight to Germany.

He said: “I don’t know if he has a chance of making it, but he’s pushing for that.

“I don’t want to write him off for the European Championship.

“But he won’t play for us again this season as he’s out and that’s always been the case.”

Scotland have major injury concerns for the tournament, with Lewis Ferguson and Nathan Patterson definitely out and doubts over Aaron Hickey and Stuart Armstrong.

Meanwhile, Josh Doig could be set for a shock move to Lazio in the summer just six months after joining Sassuolo in a £5 million deal.

The Scotland Under-21s skipper moved from Verona in January, but faces the nightmare prospect of relegation, with his club five points adrift of safety with just four games left in Serie A.

However, new Lazio boss Igor Tudor has made signing the former Hibs star a priority for the summer after working with Doig when he was manager at his former club Verona.

The 21-year-old has been praised for his performances with Sassuolo despite their dismal form.

The prospect of playing in the second tier of Italian football would not appeal to Doig and a dream move to the Rome giants could be on the cards for him.
