Klein comes in for Foxes but Pothas is moving on

-

IT’S been all systems go at Leicestershire this week with one in, one out and two signing new deals at Grace Road.

Dieter Klein has joined the club until the end of next season, and took two wickets in this week’s One-Day Cup victory against Lancashire.

The 27-year-old South African seamer holds a German passport and is therefore not considered one of Leicestershire’s overseas players.

Elite performance director Andrew McDonald said: “Dieter comes with a good pedigree and impressed when playing in our 2nd XI and training with us.

“We’re delighted to have him on board to bolster our bowling roster until the end of the 2017 season.”

Division Two Foxes have, however, lost academy director Nic Pothas after he was named Sri Lanka’s new fielding coach.

Pothas spent ten seasons with Hampshire and made three ODI appearances for South Africa and he said:“The opportunity to be involved in the game at the highest level is not one that I could pass up. I will be forever grateful to Leicestershire for the opportunity to join at an exciting time.”

Also at the club, Richard Jones and Lewis Hill have both penned deals until 2018. Jones is currently on loan from Warwickshire but will become a permanent signing from the end of the season. Hill is a wicketkeeper who made his first-class debut in 2015.
