Warwickshire Women’s skipper On the Spot

Date of Birth: 09/02/1996 Marital Status: Single – boyfriend, Tom

The Last Bat you bought:

About two years ago I bought a B3 bat from Nottingham – it was good and I still have it!

CD you bought:

I think, if I remember rightly, that Avril Lavigne was the last CD I bought. I don’t know which album but it was a long time ago!

Five-wicket haul or century:

Back in 2013 I took 5-4 in six overs! The last 100 was 175 not out playing for Loughborough against Leeds University. It was last season and I was really proud of that knock.

Injury?

About a year ago I had a progressive shoulder injury which got worse during the season. I didn’t have any time out but I struggled to bowl and bat at times because it was so painful. Luckily, some time off fixed it.

Trophy you won?

Two seasons ago I was named as Player of the Year which was great. I think it was decided by the coaches and so that meant a lot.

The Jury’s Out Tea or coffee?

I am a bit weird in the way that I prefer the smell of coffee, but much prefer tea.

Beans on toast or pasta?

I have grown out of beans on toast. I used to have it as a kid but now I love pasta.

Caribbean with the boyfriend or clubbing with the girls?

I have never been to Barbados and would love to go, so I will go for that. The Caribbean looks an awesome place and I know a few people who say how great it is.

Red or white wine?

I’ll drink white if it is given to me, but I actually prefer rose out of all of them. 50-over, t20 or County Championship? I prefer t20 because it is so much harder to captain. The game changes so fast and so quickly.

Time added on Who did you support as a girl?

I am from Birmingham and joined Warwickshire when I was nine so it has always been them. In football, I am an Aston Villa fan but I don’t boast about that at the moment!

Best coach you have ever played with?

Steve Rouse was the best because he was so old-school and disciplined. He taught me a lot about professionalism and how to look after yourself as well as how to become the best I can.

The most nervous when next into bat?

Georgia Davies! She is only young so it can be a bit nervy. Person to avoid after being dismissed? I think this one is the easiest! Georgia Hennessy gets angry. We have started to call her Tracy Beaker because she looks like the TV character – which doesn’t help.

One rule you could change?

I would give batsmen two lives, that would make my life so much better! I think the no-ball rule is unfair as well.

Three words to describe yourself?

Committed. Enthusiastic. Open-minded. Which TV pundit makes you cringe and which do you really like listening too? I don’t dislike anyone actually, they are all interesting and make a very hard job look easy. I think Geoffrey Boycott is very good. His Yorkshire accent is great and he then speaks a lot of sense.

Do you have any superstitions?

I don’t like to enter the crease backwards, I always calmly walk into it. It helps because it clears my mind.

Hobbies?

I like art. Painting and drawing helps to keep me relaxed when I’m away from the field. I also like golf, hockey and generally all sports.

Five people you’d invite round for dinner?

Andrew Flintoff would be fun! I’d love to have Chris Gayle, and then Jennifer Lawrence, Usain Bolt and James Corden

And finally: Who is the worst dressed player at the club?

Becky Grundy! She always wears her trousers tucked into her socks. You’ll also see her dressed in all the old kit from previous seasons instead of the current kit.
