Taunton pitch worthy of close inspection

-

DON’T the ECB employ pitch inspectors anymore? If so, how was it they did not make a bee line to Taunton after their game v Warwicks where 21 wickets fell on day one, 38 wickets by day two.

Surely the umpirs should at least have deemed the wicket as totally unsuitable for a four-day game, called in the inspectors and points deducted accordingly. This is the second game at Taunton this season to finish after about 20 minutes on the third day. Durham on August 4 springs to mind.

A word of advice to Notts who visit Taunton on September 20 – book your hotel for two nights and save money!
