CITY T20 IS NO BOOST FOR HOME PLAYERS

-

THE new proposed city T20 competition will be a real overseas and international festival but you have to feel sorry for the guys that play their trade with their counties week in, week out.

There will potentially be County Championship matches being played during this new tournament, without any focus because everybody’s eyes will be on this razzmatazz T20 event.

I’m all for T20 being played in a block in this country but the English players need to be looked after.

It’s their tournament, and while you might be getting the likes of Chris Gayle and Dale Steyn over, it’s the English county boys who will miss out playing.

It’s going to be a big payday for some guys, but for a large proportion of players, the matches they play in will be of diluted quality.

The guys that don’t play the new competition – if it does all go ahead – will need to be compensated financially.

This isn’t cut and dried yet, there are a lot of things that need to be considered.
