West Indies axe Simmons over ‘strategy’

PHIL Simmons has been sacked as West Indies coach less than six months after leading the team to the World T20 crown.

The WICB confirmed the decision was due to “differences in culture and strategic approach” though there were no specifics mentioned.

A WICB statement read:“In recent times, based on the public pronouncements of the coach and the approach internally, we have identified differences in culture and strategic approach.

“The WICB would therefore like to thank the coach for his contribution and wishes him the best in his future endeavours.”
