The Last

Bat you bought/used? I use a GM, but the one that stands out is a Puma Stealth 2000. It was the first I bought when I was ten with my granddad, Gerald. I still have it somewhere, too. Song you listened to? I apparently look like Ed Sheeran – we’re both ginger, so it was probably one of his or something by Coldplay. Five-wicket haul or century? I had a phenomenal debut where I took six-for, but in the next game I took five against Notts which was just as good. I felt that one ensured the first wasn’t a one-off, it made me feel an accomplished player. Injury? I dislocated my finger in Australia about a month ago, the left wedding-ring finger, trying to take a slip catch. Trophy you won? My last day in Australia with West Torrens District saw us win the one-day competition – my first trophy Down Under. But I had a plane to catch so I couldn’t join in with the drinking!

The Jury’s Out

Tea or Coffee? Coffee. I’d never really been into either of them, but Hampshire’s Joe Weatherley got me hooked on coffee when we were Down Under. Beans on toast or pasta? Beans on toast is a real family favourite, we always joked that we didn’t know how to cook so it would always be an easy job. Caribbean with the missus or Magaluf with the lads? My girlfriend, Phoebe, won’t be happy with this, but I’ll have to say Magaluf! I’d be desperate to see what the guys would get up to. Red or white wine? When I used to play rugby, the captain and vice-captain forced me to drink a bottle of white so I’m scarred for life! If it has to be one I’ll go for red! 50-over, T20 or County Championship? County Championship – tradition, I’ve had a bit of success so far and it’s a mental challenge. It takes a lot to get the win and it means a lot more to win.

Time added on

Who did you support as a boy? Living close to the ground I was a Somerset fan, but also a massive rugby man and supporter of Exeter Chiefs. My best mate, Jack Maunder, has just broken into the first team, too. Best coach you have ever played with? Jason Kerr has had a big influence, he was the fastbowling coach who brought me into the academy and backs me 100 per cent. The most nervous when next into bat? Tom Abell, he isn’t nervous as such, but he’s got a lot of energy floating around. He and Marcus Trescothick have really interesting preparations. Person to avoid after being dismissed? Adam Hose swears and talks to himself quite a lot. He almost blew up when he was out down the legside for the third time in a row. One rule you could change? Off-spinners should get more LBWs. It doesn’t matter about anyone else! Three words to describe yourself? Hard-working, dipsy, chilled. Which TV pundit makes you cringe and which do you really listen to? I love listening to David Lloyd, he’s very funny, while it’s amusing to see Tres looking formal! Do you have any superstitions? Not many but I scratch my guard in three times and tap twice with my bat, Hobbies? I love watching rugby and just generally chilling out. My dad, Russell, used to play for Exeter so I enjoy watching them play. Which five people would you invite round for a dinner party? Jonny Wilkinson, Ed Sheeran, Mila Kunis, Emily Ratajkowski, Sachin Tendulkar.

And finally

Who is the worst dressed player at the club? Adam Hose always pulls out some rogue shirt – he’s got a strange set!
