Aussie Head returns to Blast off again at Headingley
TRAVIS Head will return to Headingley this summer with Yorkshire signing the Australian batsman for the T20 Blast campaign.
Head, 23, played four times in the competition for the White Rose last summer scoring 113 runs at a strike rate of over 130, before being called up for Australia’s ODI series in Sri Lanka.
He is still part of the Aussies limited-overs squads having played 22 ODIs and seven T20 internationals, scoring one century.
Head said: “I am looking forward to returning to Headingley to play for the Yorkshire Vikings in 2017. I really enjoyed my time in Yorkshire last year and I can’t wait to meet up with the lads again.
“As an overseas player, I would like to help the team go further than last year and hopefully win the T20 Blast.”
Yorkshire made it through to the semi-finals last year, before being knocked out to eventual runners-up Durham.
Head will join up with fellow Australia batsman Peter Handscomb having played for hometown side Adelaide Strikers during this winter’s Big Bash League.
Yorkshire first-team coach Andrew Gale said: “It was a no-brainer to bring Travis back. If we had the opportunity to bring him back, we were always going to.
“He has gone from strengthto-strength since he left us last summer, getting into the Australia team and being a consistent performer for them.”
