WHY I RESPECT ZAFAR’S DECISION TO QUIT

-

WHILE the retirement of Zafar Ansari came as a shock, it’s perhaps no surprise that he has made this decision in order to focus on other parts of his life. Zafar is obviously an incredibly bright lad and this will be the right decision for him.

Alex Loudon was very similar. He played one game for England then decided cricket wasn’t for him and pursued a career in business. Zafar has played one Test for England, and while he probably still loves the game, he would enjoy his life more away from it.

You have to respect that he’s made this big decision so early and not just taken a place in the squad when his heart isn’t in it.

He can now get on with his preferred career ten years earlier than he would if he remained a professional cricketer.

There will always be plenty of cricketers that need a lawyer and who better to have than a former cricketer?

I’m sure that I won’t be alone in wishing him all the best for his future.
