Unwell fan meets his hero Monty
MONTY Panesar has shown his support for a young kidney transplant patient by attending an event at Luton Town & Indians Cricket Club.
Akash Suryavansi was born with polycystic kidney disease, and has already undergone two transplants. However, he got the chance to meet Panesar in an event that aimed to highlight the importance of organ donation within the Asian community.
Suryavansi said: “I’m really grateful to the hospital team for making this happen.
“It was amazing to meet Monty in person. It’s great that he wants to help raise awareness of organ donation. That makes him even more a hero for me.”
Panesar, who has been playing minor counties cricket for Bedfordshire this season, was quick to pay tribute to Suryavansi and his parents.
He said: “Akash is a really special lad and it’s him and his family who’re the real heroes.”
