Battle of the teas

- By Andrew Lawton

CRICKET teas are a much-loved part of the game all over the country, but in Cornwall they’ve gone one step further in searching for the very best.

Clubs will be battling it out for the inaugural Rodda’s Afternoon Tea Cup, with the top two from either side of the county meeting in a July final.

Simon Menneer of Cornwall Cricket said: “This is a fun way to show our appreciation and thanks to the teams behind the cricket teas.”

Each finalist will produce a sample of their best tea offerings to be judged by Cornwall Cricket and Rodda’s Cornish Clotted Cream.

Managing director Nicholas Rodda said: “Cucumber sandwiches and cream teas are as much a part of cricket as players' whites.”
