Hose goes as Bears beckon for batsman

- By Seth Francis

ADAM Hose has left Somerset and joined Warwickshire, penning a three-year deal at Edgbaston.

Hose, 24, joined Somerset in 2015 and scored his maiden one-day hundred in May. He played a total of 31 games for the county, having joined them in 2015.

He has impressed in the T20 Blast this season, making a match-winning 59 off just 28 balls in Somerset’s victory over Middlesex recently.

He now joins a Warwickshire side battling against relegation in Division One, but is looking forward to the challenge after recent success at Edgbaston.

Hose, above, said: “I’m very excited to join Warwickshire. It’s the only club in the country to have won all three trophies in the last five years and, whilst currently going through a transition, Ashley, Jim and the management team have great ambitions to bring more success to the club in the near future.”

Born on the Isle of Wight, Hose came through home county Hampshire’s development programme before joining the MCC Young Cricketers.

He is available for the Bears’ Blast match against Yorkshire today.

Ashley Giles, sport director at Warwickshire, said: “Adam has impressed for Somerset across all three forms of the game this year; grinding out runs under pressure in the County Championship and contributing gamechanging innings at an exceptional run-rate in white-ball cricket.

“I have spoken previously about our transformation process and our aim to rebuild a squad that compete in all competitions. At 24, Adam will have the opportunity to be part of Warwickshire and Birmingham Bears teams for many years and we’re very excited that he has chosen to become a Bear.”
