KELBURNE are celebrating their first WDCU Premier Division win of the season having held their nerve in a low-scoring match against Greenock last weekend.

With all other top-flight matches in the region eventually falling foul of the weather on Saturday, at Glenpark Jamie Macdonald led the way with 4-16 and Stevie McLister took 3-24 as Greenock were all out for 59.

Kelburne fell to 30-6 in reply, Kyle Scrimegour taking 4-14, but former Scotland batsman Omer Hussain top scored with 22 to see his side home.

This Saturday leaders Prestwick are due to be at home to Poloc.

In the CSL Eastern Premiership Aberdeenshire defeated Glenrothes last week with all other matches either not starting or not finishing. Arbroath, the leaders, host Forfarshire on Saturday.

And Carlton youngster Cameron Shoebridge enjoyed his recent Scotland ‘A’ debut and is now keen to kick on for the rest of the summer.

Having been brought up in London and Dublin, Shoebridge is eligible for Scotland due to his mother from Ayr.

The 19-year-old seam bowler was delighted to turn out for Scotland ‘A’ in Dublin against Ireland from July 11-13.

He said: “Having played most of my cricket in my youth at Malahide in Dublin it was quite strange for me playing for Scotland ‘A’ just along the road [at YMCA Dublin]. I was also playing against a few guys I knew well, but I was proud to be playing for Scotland, I managed to take a couple of early wickets and my dad made it along to watch for a bit. “It is good to know that the Scotland coaching panel are keeping an eye on me and I have enjoyed being part of the wider training squad that has been meeting on Monday and Tuesdays this summer. “Now it is up to me to have a good end to the season with Carlton and see where it takes me – we have a Scottish Cup final to look forward to against Watsonians next month too.” On Sunday, the Murgitroyd T20 National Finals Day is due to take place at Poloc’s Shawholm ground. Dumfries take on Watsonians in the first semi with Clydesdale playing Forfarshire in the other. Meanwhile, Scotland’s Women are set for a big week next week at Forfarshire’s Forthill ground. They are taking on Ireland in the Celtic Cup with a 50-over match being played on Tuesday, two T20 clashes on Wednesday and one T20 match on Friday. It will set them up well for hosting the World T20 qualifiers later in August. Captain Abbi Aitken said: “The squad are very much looking forward to a busy international period with the Celtic Cup and the WT20 qualifiers. “It’s really exciting to have both tournaments on home soil and something that we’ve waited so long for. We have a very dedicated bunch of family and friends who have travelled to all parts to support us in recent years, so it’s great to finally have games at home where we hope even more turn out and support the team.”
