-

LANCASHIRE’S head coach Glen Chapple is ready to play the long game in his bid to sign England pace bowler Steven Finn.

Finn, 28, is out of contact at the end of the season and Lancashire are one of a number of counties who are keen to sign him.

Chapple said: “He is in the last year of his contract and we had 28 days notice.

“But we have not had contact since then. It is very early days.”

Middlesex are also keen to keep Finn.

Managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “There have been approaches for Steven. We’ve been in negotiations and he’s asked for a bit more time.

“But he’s a Middlesex boy and we very much want him to stay.”
