Big-hitter Ingram in BBL call-up

-

GLAMORGAN batsman Colin Ingram has been rewarded for his superb T20 form by being snapped up to play Big Bash cricket for Adelaide Strikers.

Ingram, 32, was Most Valuable Player in the United Kingdom’s T20 Blast in 2016 and has hit two centuries in 2017.

He is set to give up County Championship cricket after this season but will play limited-overs cricket for Glamorgan in 2018 and 2019.

Ingram has previously played in the Indian Premier League for Delhi Daredevils but this year will be the first time the South African has played in the BBL.

The competition begins in December, meaning Miller’s Glamorgan commitments will not be affected.

Adelaide Strikers are coached by former fast bowler Jason Gillespie, who had a season with Glamorgan and has also coached Yorkshire.

Gillespie said: “The decision was made that we’d look over the world for an overseas batsman and we found a quality one in Colin.

“He gives it a whack. He has a lot of T20 experience and adds a great deal to our batting line-up. I know that he’s absolutely thrilled and he’s really committed and really excited to be linking up with us.”
