Flower no incompetent

I WRITE in defence of Andy Flower.

In Chris Stocks’ piece about the Lions, he stated that the man who will lead the squad in Australia this winter, Flower, was in charge of England’s team that went down 5-0 in the 2013-14 Ashes Series.

That series was terrible for England and the Press hammered Flower for it as Kevin Pietersen did later.

However, for the sake of balance it should be mentioned that England won all the three other series’ against Australia when Flower was at the helm.

It is unfair to Flower if he is seen as being incompetent when he was also the man that was in charge when England attained No.1 Test status. DAVID RIMMER Hertford Heath
