More support for Mankad
COMMENDATIONS to Adam Collins for approving the adjustment to the Laws which “give Mankad back his good name at last”. Vinoo, a splendid Indian allrounder, was totally justified but often criticised after running out Bill Brown for twice wandering out of his crease in Australia in 194748. Gentlemanly Brown’s dismissals were simply the result of absentmindedness but by leaving his crease would have gained a potentially significant advantage in a tight run. Too often, the backing-up nonstriker is simply cheating by deliberate intent, and deserves no warning.
