This is the second of Richard Curtis’s romcoms, after Four Weddings and a Funeral, about bumbling good eggs and frightfull­y pretty girls. Hugh Grant plays a London bookseller who attracts the attention of a film star (Julia Roberts). It’s amusing, in particular, when Grant’s character ineptly poses as a journalist from Horse & Hound magazine at a press junket for her sci-fi movie. Rhys Ifans and the late Emma Chambers star too.

The 2018-19 season comes to a close at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. Mark Williams is back to defend the title, but all eyes will be on Ronnie O’Sullivan, who has been in scintillat­ing form. And don’t rule out Judd Trump, who beat O’Sullivan to the Masters title. The tournament continues across the week on BBC One, BBC Two and Eurosport 1. who are trying to stave off relegation (Sky Sports Main Event/Premier League, 3.30pm). Then, on Friday, Jürgen Klopp’s men welcome the alreadyrel­egated Huddersfie­ld to Anfield (Sky Sports Main Event/Premier League, 7.00pm). In the interim, on Wednesday, City travel across town to Old Trafford to take on the challengin­g Manchester United (Sky champions from every year since 2011. The only absentee could be Serena Williams, who has been suffering with a knee injury.

This PGA Tour event may not offer world ranking points, but given that you can see nature, red in tooth and claw, both on the green (players in pairs) and off (the local alligators), it’s always a fun one to watch. Among this year’s star duos are Charl Schwartzel and Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace and Justin Harding, and the Koepka brothers.
