LA FILLE MAL GARDÉE
Frederick Ashton’s 1960 romantic comedy might be the funniest ballet ever created. A whirl of prancing hens, it is guaranteed to put a smile on the face. This Royal Ballet staging – with Natalia Osipova – is a very charming one. Now TV, DVD
SNOWBALL THE COCKATOO
From fictitious dancing fowl to the real deal: Snowball, the medium sulphur crested eleanora cockatoo who loves to cut a rug. There are several films of him on YouTube; start with his Backstreet Boys one. The Royal Ballet is yet to offer him a contract, but he’s still a friskier mover than most people you’ll see take to the floor on a Friday night. YouTube
