younger, sexier models, and now they want revenge in this knockabout farce, directed by Hugh Wilson. Alas, after a smattering of smart one-liners about ageing, eating disorders and cosmetic surgery, the film trades perception and wit for simple-minded wish-fulfilment.

intertwine, and while some of them stink – say, Kris Marshall’s sex-obsessed dimwit – some are heartbreaking. The best include Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson’s troubled couple, Liam Neeson’s widower and Thomas Sangster’s lovelorn little boy. Pass the tissues.
