JANE AUSTEN NIGHT

BBC Four gives a nation what they desire with an evening of programmes dedicated to Jane Austen. The night starts with a repeat of Sandy Welch’s 2009 adaptation of Emma with Romola Garai in the title role and Jonny Lee Miller as Mr Knightley. Then the reins are handed over to Lucy Worsley’s lovely 2017 documentary Jane Austen: Behind Closed Doors (9.00pm), which looks at the various houses the author lived in across England. Finally, My Friend Jane (10.00pm) focuses on the author’s ‘superfans’.
