Davies makes his mark after 59 seconds

-

While England strive for back-row balance, Wales keep producing streetwise openside flankers. It took James Davies just 59 seconds to clamp over the ball for the first time in Test rugby. Referee Jerome Garces did not give him the penalty on that occasion, but obliged a minute later when Davies swooped in here. His opportunism allowed Gareth Anscombe to kick Wales’ first points of a 38-14 win over Italy.
