Agassi willing to work as Djokovic’s coach again

- By Vicki Hodges at Wimbledon No hard feelings: Andre Agassi says he has exchanged messages with Novak Djokovic

Andre Agassi has not ruled out working with Novak Djokovic again despite their acrimonious split earlier this year.

The eight-time grand-slam winner made his first foray into coaching last May, when he joined forces with the former world No 1. The partnership lasted just 11 months and ended on a sour note, with the American admitting they “agreed to disagree on too many occasions”.

Agassi has no ill feeling towards the 12-time grand-slam champion. The pair have exchanged messages and Agassi is open to reconnecting with a fit and healthy Djokovic. “If there are ways that I could help him, he’d have to let me know,” Agassi told The Daily Telegraph. “There is no need to revisit anything, he has my support. There’s no hard feelings. I do hope I was part of the process he needed to hopefully shake him into a good intersection.

“My opinions, my approaches weren’t necessarily embraced and we agreed to disagree a lot of the time, but I understand that you can’t just parachute into someone’s process and start saying, ‘Let’s look at this entirely differently.’ If I can be a helpful part of his process, he would have to let me know that.”

Djokovic has reunited with his former coach, Marian Vajda, in the past few months, a safe move in Agassi’s eyes.

“He’s dependable, tried and true. Hopefully that stability gets him into a good place. But you can’t be in a good place if you’re not healthy. I’m only regretful that we didn’t have a healthier time, physically speaking, as Novak was managing his pain during our time together.”
