Inglot and Skugor a perfect England-croatia match

- By Vicki Hodges at Wimbledon

Dominic Inglot and Franko Skugor used the fuel of their football rivalry to power into the semi-finals of the men’s doubles.

Inglot, a passionate England supporter, and Croatia fan Skugor will be in opposite corners this evening as they cheer on their respective nations in the World Cup last four. Last night they paired up to defeat Robin Haase and Robert Lindstedt 6-3, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 and book a meeting with seventh seeds Mike Bryan and Jack Sock.

The unseeded pairing of Britain’s Joe Salisbury and Finland’s Frederik Nielsen had earlier reached the semi-finals, knocking out 14th seeds Ben Mclachlan and Jan-lennard Struff 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6. They will face the 13th-seeded duo of Michael Venus and Raven Klaasen for a place in the final after they defeated Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares 6-7, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6, 6-4.

In the mixed doubles, Britain’s Harriet Dart and Jay Clarke stunned top seeds Mate Pavic and Gabriela Dabrowski 6-3, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals on their SW19 debuts.

There was success for three of the four British juniors in action yesterday. Jack Draper, the son of EX-LTA chief Roger, saw off seventh seed Adrian Andreev 6-3, 6-0 while Anton Matusevich beat Dutchman Deney Wasserman 5-7, 6-4, 7-5. Emma Raducanu defeated 11th seed Leylah Annie Fernandez 6-2, 6-4 but Destinee Martins lost 6-0, 6-4 to 13th seed Caty Mcnally.
