England set to start Moon and Nowell

- By Gavin Mairs

Ben Moon is poised to make his first Guinness Six Nations start as one of two expected changes to the England side to face Wales in the potential title decider in Cardiff on Saturday.

Moon is set to replace the injured Mako Vunipola at loosehead prop while Jack Nowell, who started the opening victory against Ireland, will return on the right wing in place of Chris Ashton, who has been ruled out with a calf strain.

Bath’s powerhouse wing Joe Cokanasiga is also expected to make his Six Nations debut from the bench. The Fijian-born 21-yearold returned after more than two months out with a knee-ligament injury when he scored a try in Bath’s victory against Newcastle on Saturday and will win his third cap, having scored in the victories over Japan and Australia.

Otherwise Eddie Jones, the England head coach, is set to keep faith with the side who inflicted such a comprehensive defeat on France. Moon will win his sixth cap, having made his debut during an injury depleted autumn when he impressed with his scrummaging power.

“I talked about him [Moon] a bit previously about being a glue player, he just gets on and knows what his job is,” said Neal Hatley, England’s forward coach.

“Eddie called him a coal miner, that’s probably a great description for Moony. There’s very little fuss about him, he gets on with his job and he does it extremely well.”
