Adams pledges to keep Worcester up before exit

- By James Candy at Ashton Gate Heading back: Josh Adams has spent four years with Worcester Warriors

Josh Adams, the prolific Wales wing, is determined to end his Worcester Warriors career on a high before switching his focus to the World Cup in Japan.

The Cardiff Blues-bound player crossed the whitewash for the sixth time this season with an acrobatic finish in the crucial triumph over Bristol on Saturday.

Four years ago Adams was pondering his future in the game following his release from the Scarlets academy. Worcester were there to pick up the pieces and construct a lethal finisher who is now proving his worth in the red of Wales.

Adams is determined to sign off in style for the Warriors by guaranteeing their Premiership status for next season.

“Obviously the move back to Wales was something I had to make a decision on with the 60-cap policy,” said Adams. “If I wanted to continue to represent my country I had to make the move back across the bridge.

“It was an incredibly tough decision; Worcester have given me so much these past four seasons.

“I want to leave Worcester in the best possible place at the end of the season,” Adams added. “It was always the dream to play for Wales.”

Adams showed no signs of Wales’s Grand Slam celebrations as Worcester breathed fresh hope into their survival bid.

A penalty try ensured Bristol got off to a lightning start but tries from Ted Hill, Ben Te’o and Adams earned Worcester a 24-18 first-half lead. Luke Morahan’s score kept the hosts in touch before Callum Sheedy set up a grandstand finish, but Worcester survived.

Adams only made his debut for Wales last February but is now certain to be in their 31-man World Cup squad.
