everything I can to get back playing in the Premier League. You dream of it as a kid, playing at the highest level, and it’s massive when you can watch Match of the Day and see yourself. You want a lot more when you get a taste of it.”

Warnock had a big hand in Harris moving to Wednesday after recommending him to Bruce.

“Steve Bruce put a lot of faith in me and went as far as calling Neil Warnock and asked him to send me his way. After I heard that, after the years I had not been playing as much as I wanted, the club being so big, it was a no-brainer,” Harris says.

“Neil Warnock gave me a good recommendation. I respect him for that because many managers wouldn’t have done it. I’ve been playing all season and a bit of that is down to him.”

Under Garry Monk, Wednesday have been struggling to keep pace with the play-off contenders since New Year, but Harris is not giving up on the season. He believes an upset against Pep Guardiola’s team, three days after they won the Carabao Cup, is possible and can breathe life into their campaign.

“Since New Year, it has not gone to plan, but I know what it takes to get back into form. Myself and the team can do that,” Harris says. “The play-offs is not impossible. We didn’t win on Saturday [in the home defeat by Derby] and that was a massive game.

“But if you win three or four in a row, you are all of a sudden back in the mix.

“You relish these cup opportunities to play against the best players in the world. It is a good chance to show people what we’re capable of and I’ve got belief we can pull off an upset.”
