United put on error alert by Solskjaer

- By James Ducker Marrento Marrento,

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned his Manchester United players that there will be no room for the cheap errors that have cost them of late as the manager vowed to go full throttle at Leicester City tomorrow.

Paul Pogba’s deliberate handball cost United a penalty in the 1-1 draw against West Ham and lax marking by Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire allowed Southampton to claim a 97th-minute equaliser the previous week. Sandwiched between was an error-strewn display from goalkeeper David de Gea in the dismal 3-0 FA Cup defeat by Chelsea at Wembley last Sunday.

It has left United requiring a point at the King Power Stadium to guarantee qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Yet Solskjaer has ruled out any prospect of a safety-first approach as he urged his players to cut out their concentration lapses.

“Focus and concentration is vital,” the United manager said. “When you play against quality teams, one lapse of concentration can hurt you. We have given ourselves a good chance of being in the Champions League but we can’t go into the game thinking about what the outcome could be. We’ve just got to perform at a high enough level so we can get a result.”

Failure to beat Leicester would mean the club recording their lowest points tally in the Premier

League, even if that would still be enough to secure a top-four spot should Chelsea lose at home to Wolves. He said: “We’ve come a long way mentally. We have shown more resilience when we lost the first goal in games and we’ve also shown the heights when everything’s flowing.”

Meanwhile, United’s Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira has

made some bizarre criticisms about Liverpool players James Milner and Virgil van Dijk. Asked by the Desimpedidos Youtube channel who was the most arrogant footballer, Pereira said: “I don’t really like that guy Milner. And I don’t like that guy Van Dijk. [He is] man. Even the way he plays is kind of arrogant.” in Portuguese translates as “cocky” or “arrogant”.
