England 4-2-3-1
5 Nick Pope
Not helped by the poor surface at Arena Kombetare but his kicking was poor. Not much work to do and now has kept a clean sheet in all six of his caps
6 Kyle Walker
Got forward early on and was increasingly an attacking presence in the second half. Picked up a yellow card for putting his arm on an opponent.
6 John Stones
Was a good threat from set-pieces early on and he strode out of defence well, although his passing was inconsistent as he tried to switch the play.
6 Harry Maguire
Never looked hurried and was always in control of the back line. Played shorter passes than in his last game against Iceland but never lost the ball.
7 Luke Shaw
First cap since September 2018 and he provided an excellent ball for Harry Kane’s opening goal, a cross with pace for his captain to steer in.
5 Kalvin Phillips
Plenty of pressing from the Leeds midfielder, often higher up the pitch than he usually positions himself. Would have liked to have got on the ball more.
7 Declan Rice
Won tackles and kept the ball moving quickly after regaining possession. Deep-lying but positive. He dropped into the back line when Albania had the ball.
7 Raheem Sterling
Eased his way into the game and stole possession for Mason Mount’s goal. Excellent cross for Kane to hit the crossbar, then teed up Phil Foden to hit a post.
7 Mason Mount
Gave the ball away for an Albania chance but it was a rare mistake. He was rewarded with a goal in the second half after growing into the game.
6 Phil Foden
Not much space or time on the ball for the Manchester City player but eventually got an opening and hit the post. Set-piece skills could be a real threat at the Euros.
8 Harry Kane
Ended his six-game drought with header that gave Etrit Berisha no chance, then set up Mount for the second goal. Also hit the crossbar and could have had more.
Subs Ward-prowse 70 (Phillips), Lingard 81 (Foden). Not used Henderson, Johnstone, Trippier, Coady, James, Calvert-lewin, Mings, Chilwell, Watkins, Bellingham.
Referee Orel Grinfeld (Israel)
