Langstrath Birch under starlight
The drama of a tree under a starlit sky is hard to beat. The birch rises above the rushing waters of a mountain beck in a secluded Lake District valley, where there’s very little light pollution. Photography means literally ‘painting with light’ and while Rob took charge of the camera exposure, Harriet hid among the rocks and ‘painted’ the tree with light from a head torch. ‘It’s a lo-tech system (and I often have my feet in the river) but the result places the tree centre stage, as if the universe is spinning around it,’ says Harriet.
