In 2014, husband-and-wife team Cass Titcombe and Louise Chidgey brought together their respective strengths to found the restaurant Brassica and its neighbouring home ware store, Brassica Mercantile, in the Dorset town of Be a minster. Titcombe, an awardwinning chef, co-founded the London restaurant Canteen, while Chidgey has 20 years of experience in retail, including as senior buyer at The Conran Shop. The interior of the restaurant – which serves hearty seasonal fare–was designed by Chidgey, and diners can wander through to the shop to buy the linens, candles and table ware. Chidgey’s aim was to establish a joyful brand that reflected‘ a relaxed way of life and attempted to achieve the British equivalent of hygge’. Mission accomplished. brassicamercantile.co.uk

India May Home founder Karen Birch enough describes its look as ‘Scandinavian meets bohemian ’– a combination that works surprisingly well. Danish design elements – simple silhouettes, a monochrome palette – have been brought together with touches of globally influenced pattern and decorative details.
