This inn in the centre of Hambledon has confirmed it will be reopening on
July 4, all being well. Accommodation includes four rooms above the pub, three in a converted barn and five shepherd’s huts. Stay more than one night to receive complimentary room service.

SUMMER LODGE, DORSET
Summer Lodge is looking to a July 4 reopening. It’s in the village of Evershot, little changed since Thomas Hardy wrote it into Tess of the D’Urbervilles. The hotel is on four acres, next to a 400-acre deer park. Doubles from £215 (01935 482000; summerlodgehotel.co.uk)
LUCKNAM PARK, WILTSHIRE
A stellar family option, Lucknam Park will reopen on July 13, with new cottages alongside its usual rooms. Al fresco dining options will replace the restaurants, including takeaway picnics and “destination dining” at spots in its 500-acre grounds, a 30-minute drive from the North Wessex Downs.

FARNCOMBE ESTATE, COTSWOLDS
The Farncombe Estate in Broadway is also looking at a July 13 reopening. The estate includes Dormy House, a pretty boutique property; Foxhill Manor, an Arts and Crafts manor; and The Fish, left, a collection of treehouses, shepherd’s huts and chic rooms.

THE BLACK HORSE, NORTH YORKSHIRE
