The coast is clear for golden slumbers in California

-

Circadian health continues to be a trend, given the high levels of anxiety caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Post Ranch Inn’s new sleep programme has been designed with doctors and an indoor air-quality expert to help guests slumber better. The eco-luxe property perched on the cliffs of Big Sur, California, has just undergone an extensive, sustainable renovation, too (postranchinn.com).

In northern Goa, King’s Mansion is the new spot to watch. Its concept has been developed by Moss Wellness Consultancy, which has worked with global brands including Clinique La Prairie and Four Seasons. Here, the focus is on immunity and healing. Working with specialists, the aim is to combine evidence-based, scientific research with Ayurvedic medicine and holistic practices to inspire guests to make long-lasting lifestyle changes at home (kingsmansiongoa.com).

“Blue Health” breaks – a trend coined by the European Centre for Environment and Human Health at the University of Exeter, which is studying the effect that water has on our well-being – will see people head for the coast for some sea-based pursuits. Try Ikos Andalusia (opens in April) with 43,000 sq ft of swimming pools, a spa by Anne Sémonin Paris, and countless activities such as beach volleyball, canoeing, windsurfing, pedalo adventures and more (ikosresorts.com).

A string of new openings are set to grace Greece, most notably MarBella Elix on the mainland, and Oku Kos. The first of these, set above Karavostasi Beach in the Parga region, will have an adventure club to keep children and teenagers busy, while adults can soak in the wellness centre, where the natural therapies and treatments are tempting. Visitors will also be encouraged to leave their phones behind (opens May).

Oku Kos soft-launched last year, but will be fully operational in April, just ahead of its sister property in Ibiza (opens May). The Kos outpost is located near the ruins of Asklepion, the site of an ancient hospital – built as a temple to the god of healing – where treatments were based on the teachings of Hippocrates. Wellness spaces at Oku Kos include a pool and hammam, plus a yoga and meditation pavilion on the beach where healing workshops take place weekly with in-house guides and visiting shamen (okuhotels.com).
