Where can I find a classy villa that’s small enough for two?

QI am looking for an upmarket villa travel company. I have used Scott Williams in the past but they have few small villas suitable for two. I would appreciate your recommenda­tion of any other operators that might be able to offer a selection.

bedroom villas are in short supply, but some operators are able to arrange stays in smaller properties that are specifical­ly designed for couples.

The portfolio of Simpson Travel (simpsontra­vel.com) includes The Scented Garden, a modern, glassfront­ed house with private pool and walled garden on the Ionian island of Paxos, which in 2021 costs from £1,086

Two’s company, especially when you have a nice place to relax in a week per person including flights and car hire. Nearby, its sister villas The Herb Garden and The Secret Garden also sleep two. Despina, available through CV Villas (cvvillas.com), is a romantic couples’ hideaway on Kefalonia with sea views from its pool and fire pit, from £865 a week, rental only.

Vintage Travel (vintagetra­vel.co.uk) has tiny, stone-clad Aeletta on Kefalonia, starting at £724 per week, and Amfitriti, which overlooks the rocky south-western shores of Crete (2021 prices not yet confirmed), plus village houses sleeping two on the Peloponnes­e.

Vintage also has a selection of twoperson properties in the Croatian region of Istria, as well as Andalucia, Mallorca, Tuscany and near Albi in south-west France.
