Living wage ‘will force up bills’ for charities
The implementation of the living wage means charities face a “considerable increase” in bills with few resources to fund it, the chairman of the trustees at Age Concern has warned. Daphne Pearson, writing in today’s
Daily Telegraph, says “little thought” appears to have been given to the effect the living wage policy will have on small charities, many of which employ staff on the minimum wage.
She said: “These charities usually exist on income from shops and the small number of grants. Suppliers will also have to adopt the living wage, the cost of which will be passed on.”
