Nigella: life ‘tastes good’ after bad times
NIGELLA LAWSON said her life “tastes pretty good” after a tumultuous two years which resulted in a highprofile court appearance and the breakdown of her marriage.
The celebrity chef is due to release her 10th book, Simply Nigella, next month, and says it carries a simple message. The 55-year-old told The
Mail on Sunday’s You magazine: “My books have always been snapshots of where I am at the time. “So this is what Simply Nigella says, and it is an aptly simple message: ‘Here’s where I am, here is my food, this is what my life tastes like right now.’
“And it’s tasting pretty good to me.”
Ms Lawson found herself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons two years ago when photographs were published of then-husband Charles Saatchi holding her by the throat during an argument at a Mayfair restaurant. Then at a fraud trial involving her two former personal assistants she admitted to taking cocaine.
Her disclosures meant she was later prevented from boarding a flight to the United States while a visa issue was resolved. It was also announced this spring that her cooking show The Taste had been dropped.
Describing her latest book, Ms Lawson said: “The one thing I don’t do is eat food that people perceive to be ‘healthy’ to be good, and allow myself indulgences as a reward: I choose the food my body needs, as the occasion demands, and everything must be equally pleasurable.”
