Schoolgirl charged with attempted murder
A 14-year-old girl has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly assaulting another girl at school.
The victim, aged 15, was taken to hospital in Portsmouth for treatment to a minor injury to her chest following the incident at the Petersfield School, Petersfield, Hampshire, on Monday morning. She is recovering at home.
The arrested girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with attempted murder and threatening a person with a blade or sharp-pointed article. She was remanded to appear at Basingstoke magistrates’ court.
A statement from the school said there had been “an isolated incident involving two students”.
