Driver on bail for killing man hit 140mph

-

A HIT and run driver was caught travelling at more than 140mph while on bail after killing a pedestrian.

Farhan Ali had already been charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of Janusz Partyka, 31, in February on the A4 in Osterley, west London. Four days later police spotted Ali, 30, speeding on the M40 in a BMW. He was jailed for a year in March for that offence.

Ali, of Hounslow, was jailed for a further six-and-ahalf years at Isleworth Crown Court for killing Mr Partyka, given four years more for any further offences once he is freed on licence and was banned from driving for 10 years, after which he must take an extended retest.

His licence was endorsed and he was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £120.

Det Sgt Jeff Edwards, of the serious collision investigation unit, said: “Ali showed complete disregard for the safety of other road users and his recklessness has caused the death of a muchloved man. Our thoughts are with the family of Janusz who have behaved with the utmost dignity throughout.”
