Drugs mule: I knew what I was doing

DRUGS mule Melissa Reid has been reunited with her family in Scotland after her release from prison in Peru, and admitted: “I knew what I was doing – I wanted to be able to boast about it”.

Reid, 22, was jailed for six years after she was caught attempting to carry 24lb of cocaine alongside 23-year-old Michaella McCollum, from Dungannon, Co Tyrone, in August 2013.

She told The Mail on Sunday: “I thought it sounded like a challenge and was blasé about it.

“I didn’t owe any money or anything. I just wanted to be able to boast about it.”
