THE ROYAL IRISH REGIMENT A service to commemorat­e the sacrifice of Irish infantry soldiers on the centenary of the Battle of the Somme was held on Saturday in The Royal Memorial Chapel, Sandhurst. The Chaplain General, the Rev Dr D.G. Coulter, officiated, assisted by the Senior Padre, Defence Forces Ireland, the Rev S. Maddigan. Afterwards, a luncheon was held in Old College, RMA Sandhurst. The Ambassador of Ireland, officers of The Royal Irish Regiment, The Royal Inniskilli­ng Fusiliers, The Royal Ulster Rifles, The Royal Irish Fusiliers and The London Irish Rifles, serving and retired, and guests from Associatio­ns representi­ng those Irish Regiments disbanded in 1921 were among the guests. President, Royal Commonweal­th Ex-Services League, this morning laid a wreath at the Tugu Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

His Royal Highness, Grand President, this evening attended a Reception for the Royal Commonweal­th Ex-Services League at the Grand Millennium Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
