Zuma handed £400,000 bill for home ‘upgrades’
Jacob Zuma, the president of South Africa, should pay 7.8 million rand (£386,000) for “non-security” upgrades to his private home in the KwaZulu-Natal, the National Treasury said yesterday.
In March, the country’s highest court ordered Zuma to pay back some of the £12 million of state money used for upgrades that included a swimming pool and amphitheatre. It gave the Treasury 60 days to work a “reasonable cost”, which Mr Zuma has said he would pay back.
