Former BBC presenter deported from Eygpt
A prominent British-Lebanese TV presenter who hosted a show in Egypt critical of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has been deported, in the latest crackdown on media.
Liliane Daoud, a former BBC reporter, was taken from her house in Cairo and arrested by plain-clothes policemen. The Egyptian authorities claimed she was deported because her residency permit had expired. One official, however, said that she had “crossed red lines” in her programme.
