Carnival preen

-

A man is fighting for his life following a stabbing at Notting Hill Carnival yesterday.

The attack was one of four stabbings reported on the carnival’s first day, and Scotland Yard said police had arrested a man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They also made around 50 other arrests.

London Ambulance said staff had treated 179 patients and taken 27 to hospital. The service tweeted a picture of paramedics setting up extra beds along a street as its treatment centre grew busier into the evening.

The stabbing victim was taken to hospital after emergency services were called.
