Police called in as transgender Tory is wrongly called ‘he’

A TORY councillor who transitioned from male to female a decade ago has filed a complaint with police after she accused a rival of “misgendering”.

Zoe Kirk-Robinson, 35, said Bolton’s former Labour mayor Guy Harkin is guilty of a hate crime after he repeatedly addressed her as “he” and “him” instead of “she” and “her”.

Mr Harkin, 69, insists it was a slip of the tongue. But Ms Kirk-Robinson claims he made a “personal attack” during a recent meeting. Mr Harkin said: “I offered to apologise as there is not a homophobic or any kind of phobic bone in my body.”
