The singular saintliness of Mother Teresa
SIR – Three of us who volunteered in Calcutta with Mother Teresa’s nuns will be enjoying a reunion in Rome for her canonisation on Sunday.
She had a gift for welcoming volunteers. By working alongside the sisters and sharing their lives with hungry, sick poor people we had an opportunity to absorb their values.
We learnt that God cannot count. God can only deal with people singly – “One, one, one.”
When Mother Teresa met you, she would focus on you totally to the exclusion of everything going on around her. She had all the time in the world to listen to you. Veronica Whitty Wallsend, Northumberland
