Jeremy Vine films road rage row

- By Leon Watson

JEREMY VINE has filmed a driver making threats to him as he was cycling down a narrow street.

The BBC presenter was on his bike in a narrow road in Kensington, west London, when footage from his helmet camera shows a driver tailgating him.

After he slowed down to express his concern that she was too close, the driver is filmed shouting “why did you do that?” before telling him to “get the f--- out of the road”. Vine said the woman then started kicking out, although this is unclear from the footage.

The motorist got back into her vehicle and sped off, avoiding crashing into a parked car by inches.

The driver got out of the car on two further occasions, both times threaten- ing the broadcaster. She also shouted: “If you take a picture of my car again I’m going to knock you out because that’s my personal belongings.” Off camera, Vine claimed that as he pulled alongside the car, she then made her hand into the shape of a gun and mimed firing it at him.

In a Facebook post, Vine, who starts presenting Crimewatch next month, wrote: “I hate to overload our hardworking London police … but I feel the person you see on the tape will at some point hurt someone very badly.”

Vine then received dozens of comments urging him to go to police.

Vine started filming his cycle journeys after being knocked off his bike in January 2014. The driver responsible was fined £3,200.

He declined to comment further on the latest incident, saying he was leaving it to the police. Scotland Yard was unable to confirm that it had received a report of a road-rage incident.
