Charlotte clearly loves her role as royal ‘spare’

-

Ihave loved every moment of the royal tour of Canada, from the Duchess of Cambridge showing off her knees (how exciting) to the excuse we have all had to drool over pictures of Justin Trudeau, aka the Prime Minister of the Whole of The Internet. (He poses with pandas! He dances at Gay Pride! He can explain quantum physics!)

As I’m a dangerously broody 36-year-old woman, the photos of him meeting the adorable Prince George and Princess Charlotte off the plane in British Columbia were enough to make my husband go running for cover. Trudeau! Babies! Arggh, my hormone levels are all over the place.

Incidentally, I know the young Princess is only one, but she appears to be having a far better time than her brother, who at the tender age of three seems already to be aware of the responsibility that lies ahead of him. Charlotte, meanwhile, can have a high old time playing with mini drums and poodles without a care in the world. It’s what must now be known as Heir-And-Spare-Syndrome, and I wonder: are we now looking at the new Prince Harry? For the sake of fun, I do hope so.
