Clarks ties up deal for new chief

Clarks, the shoe-maker, has hired former Karen Millen boss Mike Shearwood as its new boss. Family-owned Clarks has been without a permanent chief executive since company veteran Melissa Potter was ousted by the board, along with finance director Robin Beacham, after the retailer suffered a fall in sales over Christmas.
