The Rosetta mission 12 years in deep space
March 2004: Rosetta mission launched from French Guiana.
Feb 2007: The spacecraft uses the gravitational pull of Mars to increase its speed. July 2011: Craft goes into deep hibernation for the long trip to the comet. Jan 2014: Rosetta “wakes up”. May 2014: The craft intercepts Comet C-G. November 2014: Philae is deployed from Rosetta, orbiting above the comet, and makes a rough landing. September 2016: Rosetta crash lands on Comet C-G, bringing an end to the mission after 12 years.
