Don’t worry, my dad will accept any fair result, says Trump son

- By Ruth Sherlock in Washington

DONALD TRUMP’s son has said his father will “100 per cent” accept the results of the presidential election, in an apparent effort to tone down the Republican nominee’s suspicions about vote-rigging.

“I think what my father is saying is, ‘I want a fair election’,” Eric Trump told ABC’s This Week. “If it’s a fair outcome, he will absolutely accept it. There’s no question about that,” he said.

Mr Trump has repeatedly claimed that the election is being “rigged” against him, and has challenged a cornerstone of American democracy by refusing to say whether he will commit to honouring the result.

He escalated his rhetoric over the weekend, suggesting at a rally, albeit jokingly, that voter fraud was OK if it helped him win. “I may be hurting myself. Maybe they’re going to vote for Trump,” he said. “All right, let’s forget that. It’s okay for them to do it.”

Eric Trump’s intervention came as his father also battled a new allegation of sexual harassment. Jessica Drake, a pornographic film star, claimed that she was offered $10,000 (£8,000) to spend the night with Mr Trump a year after he married Melania, his current wife.

Ms Drake said she met Mr Trump at a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe in 2006. She told journalists that she and two other women had visited Mr Trump’s penthouse suite, where he had “grabbed” them. She said he “kissed each of us without asking permission”.

She produced a photograph of them with Mr Trump in an attempt to verify her story and said she later received a call from a business associate of Mr Trump saying the billionaire was willing to pay for her to return to his suite.

Mr Trump immediately and vehemently denied the allegations, insisting he did not know the woman and would have “no interest” in getting to know her. He said the account given by Ms Drake at the press conference on Saturday was “totally false and ridiculous”.

Eleven women have now come forward to accuse the real estate mogul of groping and sexual harassment. Mr Trump denies all the allegations and has vowed to sue his alleged victims.
